USERLIST
NAME
USERLIST - offers a survey of currently attached
users on the console of a bridge or
fileserver in a network running
Novell's Advanced Netware versions 2.1x
SYNOPSIS
USERLIST [x]
DESCRIPTION
USERLIST shows all attached users on the console of
a bridge or fileserver together with information
about their connection in a format much like
Novell's userlist/a command.
USERLIST runs as a VAP (Value Added Process) on
fileservers operating under Novell's Advanced
Netware versions 2.1 and up. On the fileserver a
user GUEST has to exist without a password.
Installation on a fileserver:
1. copy USERLIST.VAP to the directory
SYS:\SYSTEM
2. reboot the fileserver (having it 'downed'
properly first)
3. answer 'y' to the question if VAP(s) have
to be loaded
USERLIST runs as a VAP on bridges operating under
BRIDGE-software of Novell's Advanced Netware
versions 2.1 and up.
USERLIST supplies useful information only if the
bridge has been started in a non-dedicated mode and
a connection with a fileserver has been made.
To establish a connection with a fileserver it is
necessary to load a Novell-shell (NETx.COM) and
either the user GUEST has to exist without a
password or a user logs in at the bridge on a
fileserver.
Installation on a (non-dedicated) bridge:
1. copy USERLIST.VAP to the directory where
BRIDGE.EXE will be started from
2. start the bridge in a non-dedicated way, so
together with a memory-size parameter
3. answer 'y' to the question if VAP(s) have
to be loaded
4. load the Novell-shell (NETx.COM) at the
DOS-prompt
5. login as a user or see to it that the user
GUEST exists without a password
After installation USERLIST is available at the
':'-prompt of the fileserver/bridge-console.
Invoking USERLIST is possible in two ways:
:USERLIST

:USERLIST x
Results in a 'userlist' with the same layout,
repeatedly displayed after about x seconds. This
loop can be stopped by invoking USERLIST without a
parameter.
REMARKS
USERLIST clears the screen if it is in use e.g. by
the Console Monitor.
USERLIST x, will suspend its operation as soon as
the screen is occupied by the Console Monitor. When
monitor is stopped (OFF), USERLIST will continue its
loop.
Clearing the USERLIST-connection (connection 1 in
the example above) will result in the message:
"Userlist: terminating" when USERLIST is invoked,
and USERLIST will stop.
Only after the USERLIST VAP is loaded again (after
rebooting the server) you can use USERLIST as
before.
